Orlando is the lightning capital of the United States, and the reason is geometry: the sea breezes come in from both coasts every summer afternoon and collide right over the metro. Add the hurricanes that cross the peninsula rather than stopping at the shore — Charley in 2004, Ian in 2022 — the launch weather at Cape Canaveral, and the heat that sits on the parks all summer. The look borrows from the American Interstate system — the reflective paper, the green guide signs, the blue service signs, the brown recreation signs, and the red-white-and-blue route shields — set in Overpass, the typeface drawn from the Highway Gothic lettering on those signs.
